Bente Danneskiold-Samsøe obtained her MD degree in 1973, and has since specialised in physical medicine and rehabilitation, rheumatology, and internal medicine. DM in 1987. Bente Danneskiold-Samsøe was certified as physiotherapist in 1966 and began her medical studies that same year. In 1987 BDS became head of The Clinic of Rheumatology at Frederiksberg Hospital.

From 2001 onwards head of the Parker Institute. She also serves as adjunct professor at Aalborg University and clinical research professor at the University of Copenhagen. BDS has tutored and particpated in judging committees for doctoral theses and PhDs for both medical doctors and physiotherapists.

Bente Danneskiold-Samsøe also frequently gives lectures at patients’ associations all over Denmark. At national and international congresses BDS has given many speeches. She has co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters for medical doctors and physiotherapists. Since 1984 BDS has been involved in working with torture victims and in developing methods for documentation of torture for medico-legal purposes.

Over the years BDS has been a member of several medical research councils. Since 1996 she is assisting member of the patient complaints board under The Ministry of Health. Bente Danneskiold-Samsøe is the initator of The Parker Institute which has been realised through the favour of Greater Copenhagen Area Hospitals and The Oak Foundation.
