With longstanding pain, sensitization of the central nervous system may be induced. The sensitization may confuse the clinical evaluation of the disease activity and treatment may have to be changed to concentrate on the pain complications.
The Parker Institute aims at creating more knowledge of the phenotypes of the various diseases, to develop algorithms, which take the recent results of e.g. imaging into account and to simplify follow-up and monitoring of patients with home-based programs, telemedicine.
