Chris Djurtoft is a PhD student at the Center for General Practice (CAM AAU) at Aalborg University and is affiliated with the Musculoskeletal Health and Implementation research group, led by Prof. Michael Skovdal Rathleff (main supervisor). In 2023, Chris completed his master’s degree in musculoskeletal physiotherapy at Aalborg University. Chris’ research focuses on musculoskeletal conditions, with a particular emphasis on improving the understanding of outcome domains and the application of measurement methods and instruments.

Being co-affiliated with the Section for Biostatistics and Evidence-Based Research offers Chris the opportunity to engage in high-impact research within clinical epidemiology, with a focus on outcomes and chronic pain. This section plays a key role in advancing research related to outcomes in chronic pain, significantly enhancing Chris’s professional profile. Through his affiliation with the Section for Biostatistics and Evidence-Based Research and its involvement with OMERACT (Outcome Measures in Rheumatology), Chris is part of a global network that fosters collaboration in research, publications, and conferences. OMERACT develops standardized, reliable outcome measures, including core sets for conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and other musculoskeletal diseases. It focuses on developing and validating outcome measures for clinical trials, where pain is a common and debilitating symptom in rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs).

Chris Djurtoft, a member of Section for Biostatistics and Evidence-Based Research, is contributing to the OMERACT Pain Working Group, which aims to improve evidence for pain management in chronic RMDs by incorporating both clinical and patient-reported outcomes. This involvement positions Chris at the forefront of shaping evidence-based approaches to managing chronic pain in RMDs.
